WHO WE ARE
You may be asking yourself, why us?
No one in our family was a lawyer.
No one in our family was a business owner.
Katie is a non-lawyer with an extensive background in sales, marketing and business management.
In 2012, we started our Firm, Family First Legal Group, in a city where we had no contacts, no family, no “ties” or “ins” to the community.
Through the help of a business coach and a ton of trial and error, we managed to grow our two-man operation into a multi-million dollar, multi-lawyer, multi-location Firm.
We went from broke to having a beautiful, paid-off home, our kids college savings fully funded, and retirement growing. All while getting to homeschool our twins and vacation/travel when/where we want.
Now we’ve started Family First Consulting
for a few reasons:
We want to improve the quality of legal services across the country.
You see, our Firm produces GREAT results for clients because of some very clear causes we put into place in our business.
We are determined to to show couples how to run a great business that allow them the time to actually FOCUS on working “on” their business and spending time on what matters to them…like their family.
We are BIG believers in what we call the ONE SOURCE APPROACH.
We had our twins. Avery (our son) and Mazlyn (our daughter) in our mid-twenties, with no family help (we’re both from Maryland but now live in Florida) and no prior experience with babies. We were in the hospital for only 36 hours when we were sent home. We looked at each other as we pulled away from the hospital because we didn’t know what the F&@k we were going to do with two six-pound babies!
Fortunately Katie was given a book by a colleague called, “On Becoming Baby Wise.” He said, “This is the only book you need. You will be calling me, telling me how you will be forever in my debt for telling you about this book.” We liked the book and it’s lessons. It all resonated with us and we planned to follow it. This was all REALLY easy to say but when you come home to an empty condo you had just left as two adults and now you are bringing home twin infants, SHIT GETS REAL!
Things from the book were not working perfectly IMMEDIATELY so we started getting nervous and we did the most human thing ever. We started to DOUBT the system. We had looked for additional answers, we started trying additional techniques, taking advice from friends, colleagues, magazines, T.V., etc. Anywhere we could to try to make sense of it all.
Until one day we said ENOUGH!!!
We are sticking to Baby Wise. WE BELIEVED IT WOULD WORK. We felt it resonate with us and believed it made sense. So from that day forward we each agreed to trust and work the system to make it work.
This EXACT same thing will happen to you as you endeavor to grow your business if you haven’t already. You will find something that vibes with you, something that makes sense and you believe it BUY you will DOUBT it and start to search elsewhere rather than WORK THE SYSTEM TO THE BONE.
Once you find the ONE SOURCE, stick with it and make it work!

“My Father is a Salesman. One of the greatest gifts he provided me was in the art of closing a sale. I am an Attorney by trade, but a Salesman at my core. Entrepreneurship would have been my future, regardless of the industry specifics of choice. I knew the only way to attain true financial independence was to build a successful business. My Goal at 27 years old was to own a $1 million law firm. I surpassed that goal by the age of 30. After training a non-attorney to sell millions of dollars of legal services, I quickly realized that surpassing the $2 million milestone was not a question of how but when. I have since decided to dedicate a portion of my time to private consulting. “I've always been independent, as far back as I can remember. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur, I had passions for the culinary arts, legal studies and marketing but never found the best fit. I had successful careers in the media industry, sales and business management but never loved what I was doing. You can find financial success anywhere with a minimal amount of dedication, discipline and drive but I needed a real challenge. Alex and I had already built a Million dollar Law Firm and frankly, we needed to expand our horizons. We were thinking "too small" I knew that what I truly needed, was a Real Challenge. We were blessed to have helped hundreds of local families throughout Southwest Florida but had to be brutally honest with one another, the need ran so deep it simply wasn't enough.
In that moment I knew that the only way to truly help as many Client's as possible was to train their local legal professionals. We had spent the last 5 years of our life building and perfecting a business model that proved time and time again to render exceptional results, every lawyer deserves that opportunity and certainly every Client deserves the best. We had spent 5 years perfecting the recipe, it took our blood sweat and tears. Sacrifices were painful, stress level was high - Now I finally knew what it was all leading up to.
I had finally found my Real Challenge.
Our blueprint for success would soon change the face of the legal industry nationwide.”
